Hot day on the water, but a nice breeze. Effortless transit of the 2 Miss. locks we'll face-passing by the "Gypsy raft"(pix) and the St. Louis Arch. It's stifling hot here in the early afternoon-and to think it was in the low 40's a few mornings ago. This location is famous on the loop-a string of barges, with fuel and electric south of St. Louis-run by Fern & Hoppie_very elderly folk, but Fern is an expert on where to go from here-anchorages, etc-to Green Turtle. At 4;30 she gathered the assembled loopers and gave us her very knowledgeable advice-appreciated by all. We have about 9 loopers/boaters here going south.
