Proposed Itinerary - Journey of the Sea Knight 2005
SeaKnight will depart South from
Amelia Island, Florida on the ICW in early May. Upon reaching Stuart, we
turn West across the Okeechobee Waterway to
Clewiston and
Fort Myers. Then North
on the Gulf ICW(GIWW)
to
Tarpon Springs .
Planning to take the near shore route of the Big Bend with stops at
Yankeetown,
Cedar Key, Suwanee and
Steinhatchee. We pick up the GIWW again in
Carabelle to
Pensacola, with stops at
Apalachicola,
Panama City and
Destin. From there we
leave Florida for Mobile, Alabama.
At Mobile we head North on the TennTom Waterway, 450 miles to the
Tennessee
River. Probable stops on the TennTom at
Demopolis,
AL, and Columbus, MS.
Upon reaching the
Tennessee River, we will head North (downriver) to the junction of
the Cumberland River at the North end of "The Land Between the Lakes". We
proceed Westerly, up the Cumberland River to
Nashville and beyond, possibly to
Celina.
We then return back to the Tennessee River.
The next leg will take us the entire length of the mighty Tennessee to
Chattanooga
and
Knoxville. As Fall approaches we will retrace our route to
Joe Wheeler State
Park and the AGLCA (America's Great Loop Cruisers' Association) Fall
rendezvous, October
3rd-6th, 2005.
Now we head South on the TennTom to Mobile, at which time we hope
hurricane
season is over. Back to Florida and home, probably with a trip directly across the
Big Bend in company with some Loopers. From Tarpon Springs we retrace our route
back to Amelia Island, hopefully by early November.
